Progressive Pop Singers elected to Rock Hall

CLEVELAND -- At long last, the Big Three from the 1980s will be reunited.
Only this time, it is forever.
Madonna Louise Ciccone is the last of the Big Three from the 1980s to be inducted from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (Michael Jackson was inducted in 2001 and Prince was inducted in 2004). She is a Democrat, vociferous pro-choice activist, and an ardent supporter of LGBT marraige. She is also a supporter of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and has offered to perform for the New York Senator to stunt any boost that Sen. Barack Obama may have had from Oprah Winfrey's appearances in Des Moines, Iowa; Manchester, N.H.; and Columbia.
Madonna is known for her hits "Borderline", "Holiday", "Like a Virgin"; "Dress You Up", "Get Into the Groove", "Cherish", "Erotica", "Human Nature", "Ray of Light", "Beautiful Stranger" and "Music".
Another politically progressive musician, John Mellencamp, is also getting in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after five tries. Mellencamp is most known for his hits "Jack & Diane", "Hurts So Good", "Crumblin' Down" and "Scarecrow". He is also widely noted for his song "To Washington", a 2003 song that criticizes Bush's illegal murder-for-oil.
Other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees include the Dave Clark Five, the Ventures and Lenoard Cohen.
To be eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, it must have been 25 years since the artist(s)'s release of his/her debut single or album.
