Happy Roe v. Wade Day! Here is my entry for Blog for Choice 2008
Topic: Special Days

[Cross-posted from my Google blog, Aiken Area Progressive]

Today, I am here to honour the 35th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Here is why I am pro-choice and vote pro-choice, and have been pro-choice since January 31, 2003:

I am pro-choice and I vote pro-choice because I CARE ABOUT WOMEN. In case if you don't know, my best friend is a woman.

I am pro-choice and I vote pro-choice because
I WANT THE ATROCIOUS HYDE AMENDMENT TO BE ABOLISHED.

I am pro-choice and I vote pro-choice because ANTI-CHOICE LAWS HAVE KILLED MORE THAN 261 MILLION WOMEN DURING PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH SINCE JULY 4, 1776.

I am pro-choice and I vote pro-choice because I DON'T WANT WOMEN TO DIE DURING PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH.

I am pro-choice and I vote pro-choice because I WANT THE GLOBAL GAG RULE TO BE REPEALED AND CONGRESS TO PERMANENTLY BAN THE GLOBAL GAG RULE FROM EVER BEING REINSTATED.

And most telling of the reason why I am pro-choice and I vote pro-choice is because I TRUST WOMEN TO MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT THEIR OWN BODIES, I WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO STAY OUT OF WOMEN'S LIVES AND I WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO STAY OUT OF THE MEDICAL ROOMS.

Ok, readers -- it is your turn. Why are you pro-choice and why do you vote pro-choice?
